National Commercial Agriculture Strategy

Veritas Managing Partner served as a senior private sector economist for The Office of the Prime Minister’s Economic Policy and Analysis Unit to develop a national commercial agricultural strategy.

The principal purpose of the engagement was to transition the thrust of agriculture sector developmental activity from commercial farming to commercial agriculture. Key areas of research included global best practices for the development of national commercial agriculture value chains, identification of existing and potential deep agricultural value chains in Ethiopia, analysis of areas within the value chain that were deficient, and assessment of appropriate pathways to incentivize investment from local or international actors, and an inclusiveness strategy to foster local community support and engagement.
