GIS Consultant
Joyce is a GIS Consultant with Veritas. She has comprehensive knowledge and understanding of mapping
and technical issues. She manages mapping data and performs analyses to assess geographic data for
energy generation and distribution. Joyce also provides technical support for assessing geotagging, grid
design, and productive use needs for off-grid power. Previously, worked for four years at Powerhive East
Africa as a GIS Analyst. She has identified target mini-grid locations for further project development in
expansion markets in Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Sierra Leone, and DRC. This involved site selection, site
surveys, designing of the sites, and giving the total CAPEX of each site, as well as analyzing GIS survey
reports to evaluate the feasibility of choosing mini-grid sites for installation. At Bridge International
Academies where her role was GIS Assistant and Research Associate, was involved in the digitizing and
georeferencing satellite imagery and aerial photography for data collection for construction of low-cost
schools in Kenya slum areas, participated in GIS spatial and attribute data collection, cleaning,
compilation and performing analysis procedures using Quantum GIS and Microsoft Excel tools. She also
carried out individual in-depth household interviews in low-income communities and education and
financial service providers using surveys and GPS equipment. As FDB and GIS Data Gatherer contracted
to Kenya Power and Lighting Company Joyce was involved in gathering geographic and technical data for
KPLC’s power network.
